New CMS feature: group content fields

A new feature is now available in Plate CMS. This new feature allows you to group 'content fields' and centrally create and maintain them in the content model. This offers numerous advantages for our users (and especially content modelers and developers) and makes working with our multisite CMS even more efficient and easier.

What are the benefits of grouped content fields?

• The biggest benefit is there for users who often enter the same fields (e.g., Schema.org). In one you add the fields and have it reflected in all post types, sections and elements where you need that field. You then do the maintenance of this field centrally, exactly as you would expect from a smart multisite solution. These fields can now be created only once in a boilerplate (the main theme behind a multisite) as a group and added only when needed.
• Second, this feature allows you to easily add groups of fields to multiple content types. In the past, this always had to be done with a reference, but now you can nicely tab the fields. This saves a lot of time and effort, and makes the process much clearer.
• Because references are now less likely to be needed, this feature also makes it easier to filter. Previously it was necessary to filter in liquid on data in a reference, but this will now be much easier. This means you can edit and publish your content faster and more efficiently.
